InstaDebit Has Shut Down: What to Use Instead
InstaDebit has shut down. The last day to deposit with it was February 27, 2026, and you could withdraw your InstaDebit balance until April 30, 2026. Any money left in an account goes automatically to the linked bank account after 28 days of inactivity. InstaDebit itself points users to Interac instead. For casino payouts, the main replacements are Interac e-Transfer and a bank transfer to your own account; some casinos also offer e-wallets such as MuchBetter.
InstaDebit shutdown: key dates
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| February 27, 2026 | Last day to deposit using InstaDebit |
| April 30, 2026 | Last day to withdraw your available InstaDebit balance |
| After 28 days of inactivity | Any remaining balance is sent automatically to your linked bank account |
What happened to my InstaDebit balance?
According to InstaDebit, a balance left in your account is sent to the bank account you linked to InstaDebit once the account has been inactive for 28 days.
- Check the linked bank account. Look for an incoming payment from InstaDebit after your last activity.
- Check whether you still have an old bank account linked. If you closed or changed the account, the transfer may have gone to, or bounced from, the old one.
- Contact InstaDebit if the money is missing. Use the contact options on its website and keep a record of your messages.
Money still sitting in your casino account is a separate matter. It stays with the casino, and you can withdraw it with any other method the casino offers.
What to use instead of InstaDebit
| Method | How it works | What we could confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Interac e-Transfer | Money goes straight to your Canadian bank account | Recommended by InstaDebit as the alternative. Limits are set by your bank, not by Interac. With Autodeposit, money lands without a security question. |
| Bank transfer (EFT) | Paid to your verified bank account | The only withdrawal method at OLG, typically 3–5 business days after approval. |
| MuchBetter | E-wallet you top up and cash out from | Listed as a banking method by 888casino Canada. MuchBetter publishes no fees or payout times for Canada. |
| Visa or Mastercard | Card payment | Listed as banking methods by 888casino Canada. Whether a card can receive withdrawals depends on the casino. |
Interac e-Transfer is the closest replacement for most players. It pays into your own bank account, so there is no extra wallet to manage, and it is the option InstaDebit itself names. If a large payout fails, check your bank’s e-Transfer limit first: each bank sets its own.
A bank transfer is slower but simple. It is the fallback when Interac is not offered for withdrawals.
An e-wallet adds a step. The money lands in the wallet first and you move it to your bank yourself, so check the wallet’s own fees before you rely on it.
Is iDebit the same thing?
No. iDebit is a separate brand with a similar name, and some casinos list both. We could not confirm iDebit’s current terms from its own website, so we do not recommend it here. If your casino offers it, read the cashier details before using it for a withdrawal.
How to switch your casino payouts to a new method
- Add and verify the new account first. In Ontario, a casino may only pay out after the appropriate checks, and only to an account of which you are a legal holder. A partner’s or friend’s account will not work.
- Read the casino’s withdrawal rules. Ontario casinos must tell you about every rule and restriction on deposits and withdrawals, and about every fee before you withdraw. Check which methods you can withdraw to.
- Make a small test withdrawal. Once one payout arrives, you know the method works for your account.
The full process, including what to do if a payout gets stuck, is in our guide on how to withdraw casino winnings in Canada.
Why do some casino lists still show InstaDebit?
Payment logos and casino lists are often not updated when a provider closes. Some pages updated in 2026 now say in their text that InstaDebit has shut down, yet still show its logo next to the casinos they list. Go by the casino’s live cashier, not by a list of logos.

FAQ
Can I still use InstaDebit at an online casino?
No. The last day to deposit with InstaDebit was February 27, 2026, and the last day to withdraw your InstaDebit balance was April 30, 2026. If a casino still shows the InstaDebit logo, its page is out of date.
What happened to the money left in my InstaDebit account?
InstaDebit says any remaining balance is sent automatically to your linked bank account after 28 days of inactivity. Check that account first. If the money is not there, contact InstaDebit through its website.
What does InstaDebit recommend instead?
InstaDebit itself says that Interac remains available as an alternative payment option.
Is iDebit the same as InstaDebit?
No. iDebit is a separate payment brand with a similar name. We could not confirm its current terms from a primary source, so check your casino's cashier to see whether it is offered and for what.
Do I need to verify my bank account again if I switch methods?
Possibly. Ontario casinos may only pay out after checking that the money goes to an account you legally hold, so a new account or method can trigger a new check. Upload proof of the account before you request a withdrawal.
